Houston, Texas – The National Alliance of
Buy Here, Pay Here Dealers (NABD)
announced today that it will hold its third annual
training conference covering Underwriting &
Collections in Houston, Texas, on November 8-10, 2009.
More than 500 attendees are expected to attend the
three-day event, which will focus on the two most
critical elements of buy here, pay here operations.
Kenneth Shilson, CPA and founder of NABD, indicated
that an outstanding group of speakers, sponsors, and
operators have been assembled for the show. “Interest
in the buy here, pay here industry has never been
greater and franchise dealers are entering the industry
in record numbers! This conference offers advanced
training on underwriting and collections for those who
are entering the industry and for those trying to
capitalize on the exceptional profit opportunities that
exist today,” Shilson said. “The program features role
playing and other interactive training techniques to
help attendees become more successful. The sessions
will cover the entire spectrum from underwriting,
closing the deal, and collecting payments legally and
more efficiently. We have added several new speakers
this year, including some of the nation’s best
operators and experts who will share their secrets for
success. Attendees will learn from operators who are
very successful in the business and not just from
consultants,” Shilson explained.
Compliance and skip tracing are topics which will be
covered extensively during the program. “In the current
economic environment, you can’t afford costly legal or
regulatory mistakes including compliance with the new
privacy laws (Red Flags Rules)”, Shilson stated. “This
year we will have an extensive Q&A session on the
latest regulatory and compliance matters featuring
nationally recognized attorneys Tom Hudson, Terry
O’Loughlin and Leslie Bender. In addition, we will have
automotive bankruptcy expert Tom Buiteweg explain how
to handle bankruptcies and other special
considerations, including leasing. Attorney Leslie
Bender, a nationally recognized authority on privacy
and data security, will also be a keynote speaker.
Skip-tracing is particularly important in the current
economic environment where operators must collect and
recover every consumer dollar!” Shilson stated.
The education sessions will feature a single track and
all presentations will include an operator’s
perspective. These sessions will include subjects like:
payment devices, dealer management software, add-on
products, portfolio analysis, benchmarks, monitoring
collections and raising capital.
The conference will be held at the fully renovated
Hilton Houston North Hotel located near Bush
Intercontinental Airport to facilitate travel by
attendees who live outside the Houston area. NABD has
arranged some extremely favorable room rates and the
Sunday through Tuesday format minimizes the time
attendees must be away from their respective
operations. The program includes two receptions and a
luncheon with exhibitors which will facilitate
networking. The sessions will conclude on Tuesday
afternoon to facilitate return travel. “The Hilton
Houston North Hotel has been the site of two previous
conferences and attendees were very pleased with the
facilities and other amenities,” Shilson stated.
This program is designed for those who are new to the
business and those interested in improving their
collection and underwriting systems and processes.
“This training will make you more successful, no matter
how much time or how little BHPH experience you have,”
Shilson stated. “The expertise of our speakers and
networking with successful operators will benefit
everyone!”
Those interested in registering may do so online at
www.bhphinfo.com or by calling NABD headquarters at
713-290-8171. Space is limited, so attendees and
exhibitors who are interested in participating in this
event are encouraged to respond immediately.
NABD is the only used-car dealers’ special interest
group organized for the betterment of the self-finance
industry. Membership is open to all operators and those
who serve the subprime used car industry. The
organization was formed in 1999 and conducts training
and annual conferences exclusively for buy here, pay
here.
